WELCOME TO HANNES HELPINGS!

I’m Hanne, a passionate “foodie” and “food-adventurer,” meal prep enthusiast and wellness-chaser living in Stockholm, Sweden. In Hannes Helpings, you’ll find nutritious recipes, adjustments and wellness tips. My hope is that you’ll be inspired to whip up some healthy seasonal meals, try something new and get some tips on how to enhance your wellbeing.

I like unprocessed, seasonal “real” food and strive to eliminate artificial preservatives, colors, flavors and hard-to-pronounce ingredients. I use my blog to share some of my favorite tips and healthy habits that I think are the key to boosting your immune system, your overall wellness and your long-term health.

FOOD PHILOSOPHY

I believe food is the heart of a family and friends. It’s hopefully where we often gather, discuss life and enjoy nourishment. We may need different nutrition and there might be allergies and dislikes so I will show you how you can make easy exchanges to suit other needs. Most recipes will be gluten free and low calorie as a base but with tips on how to tweak this.  I strive to make healthy, uncomplicated food using the best ingredients I can get my hands on. I don’t believe that one particular diet is right for everybody. Each person needs to find what works best for them, so please feel free to “tweak” or experiment with my recipes.” 

WELLBEING PHILOSOPHY

Life is all about balance and connections. The mind and body are connected in intricate ways. What affects one affects the other. What you eat affects your brain and your thoughts affect your digestion and immune system and so on. That’s why I try to take a holistic approach. But at the same time I believe wellness should not be complicated and expensive. Easy non-expensive tips to further your wellbeing are what I strive to give.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I was born in Norway but raised in Sweden. I’ve traveled extensively, living in the U.S., Indonesia and New Zealand and explored the varied food cultures in these countries and many others.

  • Education: I have a Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology from Karolinska University in Stockholm. I’m also an easthetician, ACE certified personal trainer and nutritional counselor.
  • Family: Me, my American husband Rick, our New Zealand born son Sean and our Cavallier King Charles Spaniel Tane.
  • Travel: I’ve lived in four countries and traveled to many, many others.
  • Biggest Fear:  Public speaking
  • Favorite Ingredients: Lemons, fresh herbs and feta cheese.
  • Favorite Dessert: A cheese board, I would have a really hard time cutting out dairy.
